During the summer of 2009 for about a month an internet radio station came along and asked me to produce a show or two at a time when I had no interest in producing anything for the medium. After my experience with that outfit I remembered why I left the business.
Over the last couple months, I have been reviewing the possibilities of returning to the medium of internet radio because (1) MUSIC is still not getting enough circulation-especially R&B/soul, house and independent artists; (2) TALK is exploited to no end online but much of it isn't saying anything. In order for ME to do it, the bar has to be raised. This is my attitude about everything I do, but especially for virtual radio. Thanks to a realization that I can air all of my shows through the same medium I can host my website on, I decided to give it a go. A MIX TO GO that is. So as of this coming Friday, February 19, 2010, a re-birth will occur. To get the full story on the initial launch of my very own internet radio station SPIN RADIO FM, go to my site www.socialtravelers.info for the story on the "ABOUT US" page. This site is NOT the relaunch of that name. I laid it to rest in the early part of 2009 and think it should stay that way. The new launch will be called MIX TO GO RADIO! MIX TO GO RADIO The formula to success is revealed when one learns to keep things simple. Stupid? Only if you don't. TWO shows will air weekly and TWO shows will air bi-monthly (okay that's twice a month). "Mix To Go Magazine" Friday, February 19 will be the first show to air! It will be 90 minutes and it will feature new music, travel news, an events calendar and more. "Rhythm & Soul Lounge" will air next Tuesday, February 23 and be 2 hours weekly. "Dance After Dark" will air next Thursday, February 25 and also be 2 hours weekly. Those two shows will primarily be continuous mixes by me (DJ FREEDOM) with minimal (if any) talking. "Fade To Black" will launch Friday, February 26 and be sponsored by BPGA (Black Professionals Global Alliance). This show will be 90 minutes and feature a variety of topics affecting black people worldwide-but especially here in the states. There will of course be music but it won't always be DJ-driven mixes as it will be with the other shows. Look for this SEVEN (7) hours of broadcast hours each week to also feature video segments for our youtube channel, which ironically is called www.youtube.com/spinradiofm. How cool is that. :) Keep up with all that Mix To Go Radio is doing online: www.socialtravelers.info or www.facebook.com/mixtogo.
