Mix To Go Massive presents "Community Square"...my daily dose on issues that matter to everyday life.
You can find them posted to Instagram.com/djfreedomlives and of course here, on my website. Today's article is focused on 5 reasons why Google isn't always the best search engine - for children. Adults may of course use these tips for their purposes as well. 1. Kidclicks.org produces child-friendly results. It is vetted by librarians. Each item is ranked by reading level so a child in the 1st grade doesn't get results suited for a 5th grader. 2. Ixquick.com and Duckduckgo.com don't keep track of searches the way Google does! Their database contains useful and relevant info about health issues. Most importantly they promise not to collect info about your searches. 3. Medline Plus ( nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus) is managed by the National Library Of Medicine (A.K.A. Kidshealth.org) provides family-friendly health information. It is a research-based curated medical website. Google can be scary and vast with their endless choice of services and companies. You want info that even your family physician would say to you and/or your family. 4. Yippy.com collects info from a variety of other search engines and files what it finds into folders that appear on the left hid of the screen. 5. Dmoz.org is a directory of the web. it is developed and maintained by a huge network of volunteers. Moral of the story is: to tread carefully when dealing with certain sites! Do not depend on Google for all of your needs. #stayintune #communitysq #children #thefuture #growingup #growth #youngpeople
