DJs are everywhere: in the clubs, lounges, bars, hotel lobbies, Sephora (yes the perfume and cosmetic chain), pool parties, rooftops, ferry and cruise ships, Govenor's Island (search "Electric Zoo" and "Rock The Bells"), parades (see "Dance Parade," the "Puerto Rican Day Parade" and "Brooklyn Carnival" tomorrow) the red carpet and on half of the songs you hear on the radio.
But have you been following our Coney Island boardwalk posts (join "Mix To Go Massive" on Facebook)? We have been there since 2007. And this past Friday we were at East River Park on the Lower East Side when 4 titans of the underground house music scene came together to celebrate what they called "hookie day." DJ Dat Curly, Ray Vasquez, Lil Ray and Kervyn Mark were the engineers of great dance music that afternoon. It began about 12noon and went on until 8pm. Until Curly got on the mic and announced "we are extending the party to 10pm!" much to the delight of everyone there. If you would like to experience this grand collection of great DJs on great sound systems with dancers who come "as they are" and some of the best landmarks in NYC parks then mark your calendars:September 8 Prospect Park Lil Ray's House Jamboree 12-6pm (lineup tba)September 28 East River Park DJs Louie Vega and Anane Vega 12-8pmLooking forward to seeing you there!Freedom & Martina J.
